Sentinel of the Savanna — Serengeti, Tanzania
Sentinel of the SavannaSerengeti, TanzaniaAfrica is not a destination for me. It's family history.

Every one of these photographs cost something to make. The cheetah meant the Serengeti - and Africa is not a destination for me; it's family history, woven through my past. The stone in Death Valley slid across the playa and, for a hundred years, nobody could explain how. I went to stand where the mystery was. In Iceland I walked out across black sand to an airplane that came down in 1973 and never left. At Perito Moreno I waited in front of a wall of ice that calves like artillery - you wait, it decides. And in Canada there was no road and no trail, so we chartered a helicopter and landed on a glacier. I don't shoot from the tripod holes. I go the long way in, and I stay until the place gives something up. Your quest will be different. That's the point. Tell me where the photograph you haven't made yet is hiding - and we'll go the long way there, too.

Twice a year, one client at a time. You bring the quest — where, what, when, why. We plan it together. Then we go, cameras in hand, shooting side by side.

A few practical answers

What is a private photography expedition?

A private trip for one client with photographer Wolf Schram. You propose where, what, when, and why. You plan the quest together and shoot side by side as partners. There are no groups, courses, or teaching sessions.

What does it cost?

Expeditions start at $5,000 per day, with a two-day minimum. Travel and expenses are paid by the client. A 50% deposit holds an agreed slot. The One Print is priced separately.

How many expeditions are available?

Two private expedition slots are offered per year, one client at a time. Dates and suitability are discussed directly with Wolf.

How does the application work?

Send your name, email, quest proposal, physical readiness note, and the shot you have never been able to get. Acknowledge the starting fee. Every application is emailed to wolf@archive-35.com. Applying starts a conversation; it does not reserve a slot or take a payment.

What is the One Print?

After the expedition, you and Wolf choose the single best frame together. It is printed once, large format, signed: an edition of 1, never reprinted or licensed. You name your price above a private minimum. The One Print is separate from the expedition fee.

What languages do we work in?

English and German.
